I. Purpose & Scope

To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of wire strippers.

II. Definitions

Standard PPE – High Viz Garment, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots

III. Process

NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual. 

A. Potential Hazards

C. Inspection

1. Check for sharpness, damage, and rust.

D. Use

1. Fit the wire into the proper measurement on the wire stripper tool.
2. Once you have the right hole, put the hole at the approximate length you need to cut off the rubber coating.
3. Clamp down on the handles until the tool stops.
4. Slide the plastic or rubber coating that you have cut off the wire.
5. Throw the plastic or rubber coating that you have cut, away.

E. Maintenance

1. Clean with a dust free cloth after each use.
