I. Purpose & Scope

To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of compressors.

II. Definitions

Standard PPE – High Viz Garment, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots

III. Process

NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual.

A. Potential Hazards

  • Electric Shock Hazard
  • Moving Parts Hazard
  • Burn Hazard

C. Inspection

  1. Inspect and refill coolant level as required.
  2. Check for clogged hoses or coolant filter.

D. Use

Installation

  1. Turn off power and disconnect cooler plug.
  2. If placing cooling unit on welding power source, slots are provided in the bottom of unit so it fits over lift eye.
    NOTE: To prevent overheating, make sure cooling unit is positioned so airflow is not restricted.
  3. Connect the coolant out house, coolant in hose and coolant tank cap.
    NOTE: If welding power source has a water valve, do not connect hoses to water valve.
  4. Fill tank with coolant. Keep coolant level full.
  5. Use switch to turn cooler on and off.

E. Maintenance

  1. Clean coolant filter monthly.
  2. Blow out heat exchanger fins monthly.
