I. Purpose & Scope
To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of compressors.
II. Definitions
Standard PPE – High Viz Garment, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots
III. Process
NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual.
A. Potential Hazards
- Electric Shock Hazard

- Noise Hazard (if used at high volumes for long periods)

C. Inspection
- Check device for damage, dirt or debris and clean as needed. Disposition the device appropriately if damaged.
D. Use
Power Button Functions
- ON: press the power button to turn the handset on.
- OFF: Press and release the power button. A pop up window will appear to shut down the handset.
- ON: If the screen times out or is in standby mode, press and release the power button to wake up the handset. Turn On: with tool off, press to turn on.
- OFF: Press the power button and hold for 5 seconds to turn the handset off completely (not recommended).
Providing Power to Scan Tool Via Vehicle DLC
- Connect the OBD II/DLC cable to the scan tool.
- Connect the OBD II/DLC cable to the DLC on vehicle.
- Turn ignition on.
Providing Power to non-powered Vehicle DLC setup
- Connect OBD II/DLC cable to the scan tool.
- Connect OBD II/DLC cable to DLC on vehicle.
- Connect the 12 volt power cable to the scan tool power port.
- Connect the 12 volt power connector to the vehicle power outlet.
- Turn ignition on.
Test Startup and Vehicle Connection
- Turn on the handset.
- Connect the OBD II/DLC cable to the scan tool.
- Connect the OBDII/DLC cable to the DLC on the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition on, but keep the engine off.
- Select vehicle from the main menu screen.
- Enter the vehicle information one of two ways.
- AutoID
- Manual entry
- From the Vehicle selected screen, select any diagnostic function.
