Lockout (Shut-Down Procedure)

  1. Place vehicle where it will cause the least interference with other equipment or operations in the area.
  2. All controls at the off position.
  3. Starting means rendered inoperative.
  4. Warning or “OUT OF ORDER” signs placed on the vehicle.
  5. Power plant stopped or disconnected at the power takeoff.
  6. Boom lowered to the ground if possible or otherwise secured against dropping.
  7. Relax all hydraulic cylinders used for boom lift and articulation.
  8. Relieve hydraulic oil pressure from all hydraulic circuits before loosening or removing hydraulic components.

Start-Up Procedure

  1. Reinstall all guards
  2. Remove trapped air from hydraulic system
  3. Reactivate safety devices
  4. Remove maintenance equipment
  5. Remove warning or “OUT OF ORDER” signs.
