Lockout (Shut-Down Procedure)

Working Under Drilling Unit

  1. Notify all affected personnel.
  2. Park machine on a hard level surface.
  3. Remove cylinder locks from storage at rear of pipe box and place over extended cylinder rods with curved ends toward stabilizer shoes. Place tagout as close to cylinder locks as possible.
  4. Remove drill frame support stored at rear of unit and place under drill frame.
  5. Lower drill frame until load is supported by drill frame support. Place tagout as close to drill frame support as possible.
  6. Replace cylinder locks or drill frame support if damaged.

Opening Engine Enclosure

  1. Unlock enclosure doors at latches, if locked
  2. Open doors outward and place tagout as close to doors as possible.
  3. Lift up on upper panel for greater access to engine compartment.

Start-Up Procedure

Working Under Drilling Unit

  1. Notify all affected personnel that equipment is operational and removal of lock out will occur.
  2. Remove all tools, equipment and debris from the area.
  3. Raise drill frame until load is no longer supported by drill frame support and remove tagout from drill frame.
  4. Replace drill frame support at rear of unit.
  5. Remove cylinder locks from extended cylinder rods and place back into storage and remove tagout device.
  6. Test equipment.

Closing Engine Enclosure

  1. Remove tagout from door.
  2. Disengage the up-latch on the upper panel by holding it up as the hood is pulled up.
  3. Pull down on the panel and lower it completely.
  4. Disengage the latch on each door by holding it up as door is pulled out. Close door and repeat for other door.
  5. Lock doors at latches, and test equipment.
