I. Purpose & Scope

To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of Barricades.

II. Definitions

Standard PPE – High Viz Garment, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots.

III. Process

NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual.

C. Inspection

1. Ensure barricade reflective strips are clean and not damaged or degraded.
2. If barricade is of folding design ensure the hinges are in proper working order and can open and stand upright.

D. Use

1. Place barricades so that reflective strips are facing traffic.
2. Ensure stripe pattern indicates the correct direction of traffic.
   • A slant downward and to the left means traffic should go to the left.
   • A slant downward to the right means traffic should go to the right
3. Provide stable supports to keep barricades upright if required to prevent barricades from being blown over or displaced.
