I. Purpose & Scope

To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of tire inflators.

II. Definitions

Standard PPE – High Viz Garments, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots.

III. Process

NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual. 

A. Potential Hazards

• Penetration Hazards
• Flying Object Hazards
• Electrical Shock Hazard

C. Inspection

1. Inspect wires and hoses for cracks, damage or exposed parts.
2. Inspect for damage, dings and missing labels.

D. Use

1. Remove the tire valve stem cap from the tire to be inflated.
2. Use a tire pressure gauge to verify current tire inflation pressure (refer to the door tag to obtain the correct tire pressure requirements).
3. Thread the tire inflator nozzle onto the valve stem.
4. Turn the tire inflator on.
5. Remove the tire inflator nozzle and verify tire pressure. Repeat until desired tire pressure is obtained.
6. Replace the tire valve stem cap.

E. Maintenance

After each use

1. Clean dust and debris from vents.
2. Clean handles from oil or grease.
3. Use a mild soap and damp cloth to clean
