I. Purpose & Scope

To safely and effectively provide instruction on the inspection and proper use of hudson sprayers.

II. Definitions

Standard PPE – High Viz Garment, Hard Hat, Z-87.1 Safety Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Work Boots

III. Process

NOTE: Work instruction does not supplement the manual. For specific instructions for the exact model please refer to the owner’s manual.

C. Inspection

1. Inspect inside and outside of sprayer
2. Ensure hose is securely attached to the tank and on/off valve
3. Ensure that the spray wand and nozzle are attached and not damaged, brittle, excessively soft or loose.

How to fill Sprayer

1. With pump handle all the way down and in the locked position, turn to the left and lift out the pump.
2. Add water to the max fill line.
3. Replace pump and turn into place, turning only hard enough to seal.

How to pressurize sprayer

1. Unlock pump handle by pushing down and turning handle. Do not unscrew pump cap or remove pump.
2. Using the handle, pump up and down. The more you pump, the more pressure you will build up inside the tank. When it becomes difficult to pump, your tank has reached maximum pressure. Do not stand so head is over pump.

How to Spray

1. Squeeze handle to spray.
2. Release handle to stop.

How to Release Pressure in Sprayer

1. You must release pressure from sprayer immediately after each use, even if you stop spraying for just a few minutes.
2. Turn sprayer upside down and turn nozzle away from you. Squeeze lever to on and let all the air escape.
3. Turn sprayer up-right and slowly unscrew pump from tank and remove it. Do not stand so head is over pump.
4. If your sprayer is equipped with a pressure release on the tank, you may lift the top portion and hold it until all air has escaped. Then remove pump.

E. Maintenance

1. Clean and dry your sprayer after every use. (wash if using any substance other than just water)
   • When finished with job, spray away all the material in your sprayer.
   • Remove pump and add some clean water and a few drops of liquid dish washing soap.
   • Replace pump and shake tank to mix soap and water.
   • Pressurize and spray out soapy solution.
   • Release any pressure remaining and remove pump.
   • Remove hose and supply tube by unscrewing connection at tank.
   • Turn tank upside down and let dry.
   • Holing hose and spray wand up, open on/off valve and let wand and hose drain.
